JUDY

(loudly)

It’s time for lunch, guys! Come here!

Thomas and Edison immediately swim over, followed by Ruby and Garnett, who reluctantly make their way over with their life jackets still on.

Judy helps them take off their jackets and hands them each a sandwich.

JUDY

(to Ruby and Garnett)

You did a great job staying safe in the water today. But it’s important to remember to always wear your life jackets when you’re in the pool.

RUBY

I know, Mom.

GARNETT

(chewing her sandwich)

Yeah, safety first.

They all dig into their lunches, enjoying the food.

ON POOL

Meanwhile, the Lifeguard on duty notices that no one is in the pool and decides to take a quick break.

NARRATOR (V.O.)

You know what they say about life? It’s unpredictable, like a wave in the ocean.

He places a plank on the edge of the pool, reads: “NOT ON DUTY AT THE MOMENT, LUNCH BREAK”.

NARRATOR (V.O.)

One moment, everything can seem perfect, but the next... well, let’s just say the universe has a way of reminding us of our fragility.

FOOD AREA

Suddenly, Judy announces that the playtime is almost over.

JUDY

Okay, kids. Just fifteen more minutes and then we have to head back.

Thomas and Edison’s faces fall, and they quickly gobble up the last of their food before running back to the pool.

JUDY

Don’t play too long, boys!

Just then, baby Maria wakes up crying, diverting Judy’s attention from her Twins.

JUDY

(softly; to baby Maria)

It’s okay, sweetie. Mommy’s here.

RUBY

Mom, can we also play before it’s over?

GARNETT

Yeah, Mom. We want to try the heated swimming pool.

Judy nods her approval, still keeping a watchful eye on her baby. Ruby and Garnett goes off to the pool.

NARRATOR (V.O.)

Kids are funny, you like kids? So do I. They’re cute, sweet and... stupid. But who can blame them? We all were at one point. It’s harsh lesson to learn, one that can come at any moment, in any form.

ON POOL

Thomas and Edison rush to the pool. Thomas points to the plank on the edge of pool.

THOMAS

Look, there’s no lifeguard!

Edison keeps running towards the pool, unfazed.

EDISON

Who cares? Jump in!

Without a second thought, they both jump into the pool, making a huge splash and giggling with excitement.

FOOD AREA

Judy cradles baby Maria in one arm as she hears her phone ringing. She quickly answers it with her free hand.

JUDY

(into phone)

Hello?

WAYMOND (V.O.)

Hey, honey. Is everything good?

Judy shifts Maria onto her other arm as she talks.

JUDY

(into phone)

Yeah, we’re just having lunch. How’s your trip?

WAYMOND (V.O.)

It’s going well. I’m on my way now.

Judy smiles with relief.

JUDY

(into phone)

That’s good to hear. We already miss you.

WAYMOND (V.O.)

I miss you too, how’s the girls?

JUDY

(into phone)

Oh, they’re playing, right now.
